Group Therapists
The group is facilitated by Marcie Johnson, MSW, LICSW . Marcie is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, couples and families.
The Group
The group focuses on developing positive relationships and effective interpersonal skills. The group will offer teenage girls a supportive and nonjudgmental environment in order to practice skills and grow. The group is for teenage girls ages 14 to 18.
Topics of the group include:
- Effective communication skills with peers and adults
- Establishing and maintaining relationships
- Coping with stress
- Problem solving and social judgment
- Improving self-confidence and self-esteem
What is a group?
The group will comprise of six to eight young women. The group will allow for learning and practicing of interpersonal skills and offering of support. Group goals and norms will be established by group participants. Girls participating in the group may also have individual goals they are pursuing.
Group Expectations
Participation requires 3 month commitment. Open group format - new group members are welcome to join as space allows. Members must agree in advance to maintain confidentiality of one another within the group. This includes information shared, as well as the identity of other participants.
Group Schedule
The group meets Tuesdays 5:00-6:30 pm. Group will begin July 17th, 2007.
Fees
Per-session fee of $80 with one uncharged absence every calendar quarter. Other absences are charged at the regular rate. Group members and/or their parents/guardians are responsible for accounts and our office staff can assist in obtaining third-party payment when it is available. Please inquire for further information.
